2nd Grade Teachers

Mrs. Banks:

Mrs. Banks is beyond excited to meet and work with you and your children this upcoming school year! This is Mrs. Banks’ first year as a full time teacher in Baltimore County Public Schools. Mrs. Banks graduated from Salisbury University with a degree in Early Childhood Education and a minor in psychological studies. Mrs. Banks is from the Eastern Shore and is elated to be sharing her love of teaching in counties other than where she grew up. In her free time, Mrs. Banks enjoys spending time with her husband and family, while also attending as many Washington Capitals and Nationals games as possible.

 

Mrs. Bishop: 

Mrs. Bishop has been teaching in Baltimore County for the past two years. She worked in second grade at Dogwood Elementary School both years. Mrs. Bishop received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Elizabethtown College and a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Notre Dame of Maryland University. She is certified to teach both Elementary and Special Education. Mrs. Bishop believes that every child is unique and special; she can’t wait to meet her future students at Mays Chapel! Outside of teaching, Mrs. Bishop enjoys running, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.

 

Ms. Corey:

Ms. Corey has been a second grade teacher at Baltimore Highlands Elementary in Baltimore County for the past four years, and she is very excited to be joining the Mays Chapel team. She graduated from the University of Maryland College Park in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Currently, Ms. Corey is pursuing a Master’s degree in Reading Education at Towson University. Outside of teaching and learning, Ms. Corey enjoys spending time with family and friends, especially her fiancé Brad, and their Labrador Retriever, Tucker. Her other interests include running, yoga, the Ravens, and cooking.

 

Mrs. Ewell:

Ms.Ewell is excited to be opening Mays Chapel Elementary School! She has been a teacher for 25 years,of which 22 years have been in Baltimore County at Carroll Manor Elementary School and Westchester Elementary School. She earned a bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Maryland College Park and a masters degree in reading from The Johns Hopkins University. She became a National Board Certified Teacher in 2002 and held that certification continuously for ten years.  Throughout her career, she has taught as a classroom teacher in grades one and two and has served as a reading specialist.  She was a member of the Math Cadre in Baltimore County where she assisted in helping to write math curriculum as well as provide professional development for teachers. She lives in Riderwood with her two children, Reese and Sadie, and her own Labrador, Lexi. She spends most of her free time with her children’s activities and enjoys swimming, reading, and being outdoors mostly at the beach!
