Special Areas Teachers

Media Specialist
Mrs. Cook:

Mrs. Cook began her teaching career in 2008, working as a third grade classroom teacher at Rodgers Forge Elementary in Towson. Allison transitioned to teach fourth grade at Rodgers Forge the following year. She helped to open West Towson Elementary School in its inaugural year in 2010, where she remained a third grade classroom teacher for two years. In 2012, Allison took the opportunity to transition to the Library Media Specialist position at Chase Elementary. Since beginning her role as a Library Media Specialist, Allison has presented at the Maryland Society for Educational Technology Conference, attended the International Society for Technology in Education Conference, and served as a Library Media Specialist Mentor within Baltimore County Public Schools. Mrs. Cook is thrilled to be a part of Team Mays Chapel, and cannot wait to combine her passions of literature, research, and effective technology integration in the library media center.

Instrumental Music

Mrs. Hise:

Mrs. Hise has been sharing her love for music in the Baltimore County Schools for 18 years. Creating a dynamic and rigorous learning environment is what Mrs. Hise does best. She started the first elementary level jazz band in 1996 at Owings Mills Elementary School and has seen how students engage with the love of jazz and improvisation. She recently said a bittersweet goodbye to Oakleigh Elementary School after 16 wonderful years but is very excited about her new team at Mays Chapel! Mrs. Hise’s formal education began at Towson University where she majored in Music Education while studying the French Horn. She also has a Master’s Degree from Towson in Human Resource Development with a concentration in Educational Leadership. Mrs. Hise enjoys time with her family and one year old son. She has a 14 year old Belgian Malinois dog named Zoey. In addition to music, Mrs. Hise enjoys biking, hiking, and golf.

 

Physical Education

Mr. Lanier:

Mr. Lanier was born and raised in Baltimore County and this is his 4th year teaching with BCPS. He is excited to be teaching Physical Education at May Chapel ES. Mr. Lanier graduated from West Virginia University in 2008 with a BS degree in Exercise Physiology.  In 2011, he graduated from Towson University with a Physical Education teaching certificate.  Mr. Lanier has 8 years of experience as a personal trainer and is looking forward to bringing health and fitness to the classroom.  In his free time Mr. Lanier enjoys playing soccer with his Men’s Over 30 team, all outdoor adventure activities, water sports including scuba diving and snorkeling, and spending time with his family.  He and his wife take advantage of every moment with their infant son and energetic dog.  Mr. Lanier is a die-hard Orioles and Ravens fan and will challenge anyone to Star Wars trivia.  As a physical education teacher, he plans to promote all aspects of a healthy lifestyle.  He wants students to eat properly and get moving!  Mr. Lanier wants to help spark a healthy passion for competition and wellness that will motivate students to stay involved in athletics long after they graduate from high school and even college!
Mr. Loyd:

Mr. Loyd has been a teacher in Baltimore County since 20004. His tenure of teaching started at Pikesville middle school where he taught 8th grade science.  After 2 years, he moved to Cedarmere elementary school where he served as the physical education teacher for the school for 8 years. His cooperative mindset and goals of life long fitness and wellness, shape his philosophies of Physical education.  Mr. Loyd’s education includes a bachelor’s degree from Salisbury University in Outdoor Education and his Master’s degree from Towson in Science Education. When Mr. Loyd is outside of the school building, he you will likely find him either rock climbing, swimming or most likely playing music.

 

Vocal Music

Mrs. Marsh:

Mrs. Marsh is about to begin her third year of teaching in Baltimore County Public Schools!  Prior to Mays Chapel, she was the music teacher at Vincent Farm Elementary in White Marsh.  Not only has she taught in Baltimore County, but she also attended all BCPS schools while growing up!  She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Towson University and loves to sing, listen to, and create music!  When she’s not teaching, Mrs. Marsh is having fun with her husband, her new baby (due the first day of school this year!), and her black lab Brodie!

 

Art

Mrs. O’Reilly:

Mrs. O’Reilly has been teaching art at Hawthorne Elementary school in Middle River for the past ten years. She began her teaching career with Baltimore County at Old Court Middle School. Prior to this time, she taught preschool Montessori and managed an after school art program in Dublin, Ireland. Mrs. O’Reilly received a Bachelor’s of Art from McDaniel College in 2000. She is an advocate of arts integration and believes that seamlessly weaving art within the core subject areas enhances creativity, nourishes critical thinking and motivates the students to take risks. Outside of the classroom Mrs. O’Reilly enjoys photography, ceramics and especially spending time with her family, including her two very active young boys and husband.
