3rd Grade Teachers

Mr. Cooney:

Mr. Cooney has been teaching for six years. He started his teaching career at Lansdowne Elementary School in Southwestern Baltimore County. He attended Stevenson University for his Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, and is currently finishing up a master’s program at Johns Hopkins University, focusing on Technology Leadership in Education. Mr. Cooney’s hobbies include writing and photography. He is also interested in drama and looks forward to starting a drama club at MCES! He is the proud father of Gideon, born in 2013.

Ms. McGinnis:

Ms. McGinnis is very excited to begin her career at Mays Chapel Elementary School.  Ms. McGinnis is a recent graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Stevenson University. Her passion for teaching started at a very young age and has been influenced by her past educators. She is thrilled to teach in Baltimore County, seeing as she has completed her academic career in the Baltimore County Public School System. Outside of school, Ms. McGinnis enjoys going to the beach, camping, and spending time with family and friends. She is also a very passionate Baltimore Ravens fan.


Mrs. Stewart:

Mrs. Stewart is a passionate, creative, dedicated educator who is thrilled to be working with the students, families, and staff that make up Mays Chapel Elementary School. Megan graduated from Towson University in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a minor in English. She is currently attending Goucher College in pursuit of a master’s degree in School Improvement Leadership. Prior to joining Team Mays, Mrs. Stewart worked with kindergarteners from 2008-2009 at Westminster Elementary School. She then served as a first grade teacher from 2009-2011 and a third grade teacher from 2011-2014 at Glyndon Elementary School. Mrs. Stewart is committed to student achievement and creating a learning environment that is both challenging and fun. When she is not at school, she can be found rooting for the Ravens, cuddled up with a good book and her dog, Poco, or running 5K races.

 

Ms. Tarlton:

Ms. Tarlton is very excited to be a part of the new Mays Chapel Elementary community. She started her teaching career in 2012 at Pot Spring Elementary after graduating from the University of Richmond with degrees in Elementary Education and Pre-Medicine. She is passionate about instilling a love of learning in her students and cultivating a safe and engaging classroom environment. Outside of school, Ms. Tarlton enjoys running, reading, playing soccer and lacrosse, and riding her two horses. She is looking forward to meeting the new Mays Chapel Labs!
